The armed suspects fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla with a getaway driver waiting for them.
An armed robbery took place on Thursday, January 24 at 5.30pm, at The Glen Shopping Centre, when an unknown amount of perpetrators stormed into NWJ store.
Everyone in the store was ordered to lie down and the robbers took an undisclosed amount of jewellery.
No shots were fired and no one suffered any injuries. The robbers fled the centre in a white Toyota Corolla, registration HN96 XKGP. Moffat View SAPS attended the crime scene and they said four armed perpetrators were involved.
The Glen Shopping Centre was asked for comment.
“Security personnel in conjunction with the South African Police Services responded to a robbery at 5.30pm at NWJ jewellery store at The Glen. The scene was secured and no persons were injured during the incident.
The suspects are still at large and police are investigating the incident. The Centre is currently trading as normal. Security remains a priority at The Glen and we are proactively working with the SAPS.”

Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane has lauded the efforts of authorities after two men linked to the infamous “Rolex Gang” were arrested.
The men were nabbed in Sandton City on Tuesday evening after police found them in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, drugs and dangerous weapons. The gang are notorious for following their victims and robbing them of expensive watches, jewellery, handbags and gadgets in Sandton and surrounding areas.
“I would like to commend the police for stopping these criminals in their tracks. I am delighted that finally the law enforcement agencies are closing in and dismantling the ‘Rolex Gang’ cartel. These criminals have been for quite some time instilling fear into shoppers in Sandton and surrounding areas,” Nkosi-Malobane said on Wednesday.
She said the men were caught with two unlicenced firearms and ammunition with the serial numbers filed off, a 9mm pistol with 13 rounds, a sub-machine gun with 21 rounds, a sachet of cocaine, two Okapi knives, two balaclavas and two pairs of hand gloves.
“I am confident that, with the evidence at police’s disposal, they will be able to present a watertight case to ensure that these suspects receive the highest possible terms behind bars. This will send a strong message that Gauteng has zero tolerance against any act of criminality,” she said.
The two men will face charges relating to unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, drugs, as well as dangerous weapons.

SUNNINGHILL – Two Rolex gang members were arrested on 5 January after a joint police operation in the Sunninghill area.
On 5 January a joint operation involving the Hawks Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, the Pretoria K9 Unit and the Joburg North Trio task team as well as other stakeholders achieved success on Woodmead Drive.
“The so-called Rolex gang members are infamous for following their targets in order to rob them of expensive watches and jewellery, sometimes even in broad daylight.”
As well as the two arrests made, the police also managed to seize an Audi A3 which had been reported stolen from its owner in Langlaagte, one unlicensed firearm as well as ammunition, gloves and balaclavas at the scene.The men arrested will appear in court soon.
In previous incidents, the Rolex gang has targeted areas such as Woodmead and Bryanston. In March last year, a man was sitting with his wife and their six-month-old baby in their car in Woodmead when they were said to be accosted by two males armed with guns. The suspects insisted on taking the car from the victim with his wife and baby still inside but the man fought back.

The gang were driving a silver VW Polo Sedan, registration FN3 5DX GP.
ACCORDING to Glenvista Community Policing Forum, a Bassonia resident was held up at gunpoint in his driveway in Ribbok Avenue, Bassonia, on Thursday, January 17 by the infamous Rolex gang.
In the ensuing struggle the resident was shot in the calf and his watch was taken.
Mondeor Sector 1 CPF patrollers arrived on the scene and applied first aid and contained bleeding before paramedics and SAPS arrived. The patient is stable and was transported to a local hospital.

The Rolex gang has struck again.
This time‚ two men were robbed of their expensive Rolex watches outside a Sandton hotel‚ said Johannesburg police. The incident happened on Saturday‚ said Captain Kay Makhubele.
“These people were offloading their luggage out of the car when they were attacked by two men who came out of a Land Rover. They held them at gunpoint and took their jewellery‚” Makhubele said.
CCTV footage of the brazen daylight robbery has been circulating on social media. It shows the robbers disembarking from their car‚ one with his firearm already in hand‚ rushing towards their target.
The two victims are shocked to see the gun suddenly pointed at them and without putting up a fight‚ they take off their wrist watches and hand them over.
The suspects‚ both in hoodies‚ casually jog back to their getaway vehicle‚ leaving the victims and bystanders shocked. Makhubele said a case of armed robbery had been opened. No arrests have been made.
So-called Rolex gangs are notorious for following their victims and robbing them of expensive watches and jewellery. Three suspects were arrested after a shootout with police in Johannesburg in June.
